Smart Shopper Service

At Patriot Healthcare, we continually strive to bring our members information on the cost and quality of healthcare in our area so they can be better healthcare consumers. That is why we are offering our members the opportunity to take advantage of our new “Smart Shopper Service.”

What is it?

This Service offers rewards for members who use Patriot’s most cost effective providers for certain services. Initially, the Smart Shopper Service will include colonoscopy and MRI services. As the program develops, additional health services will be added.

Members who take advantage of the Service will receive information about the procedure, including the expected cost at the facility that they are considering, and the expected cost at our lower cost providers. Members who call the Smart Shopper Service and use one of our lower cost providers will receive a financial reward from Patriot.

How does it work?

Step 1:
Patriot member calls Member Support at 1.800.597.7728 to notify them that they are scheduling an MRI or a colonoscopy.

Step 2:
Member Support verifies the member’s benefits and transfers them to the Nurse Care Manager to discuss the procedure they are scheduling. If the member is interested in the Smart Shopper Service, the Nurse Care Manager will provide them with a list of the lowest cost providers for their procedure.

After the call, Patriot Healthcare sends information to the member with a description of the procedure, cost and quality of care information, and a list of the lower cost providers that were discussed.

Step 3:
After the call, the member chooses a provider to perform their MRI or colonoscopy and schedules their appointment.

Step 4:
If the member utilizes one of the lower cost providers that was listed, the Nurse Care Manager will verify that and mail the member a financial reward to their home within 30 days after Patriot receives a bill from the provider.
